Chapter 1164: Token
Chapter 1164: Token
All of a sudden, a fierce look flashed through the Qing Ape being's eyes.
If he were to lose to a Lightning Bird being in a contest of strength, then he would be a disgrace to his own tribe.
With that in mind, he let loose a thunderous roar, and the horns on his head abruptly elongated significantly, while his body quickly swelled to twice its original size.
"Die!" the Qing Ape being roared as he swung his fist through the air with all his might, and Han Li was involuntarily forced back slightly by his tremendous strength.
However, immediately thereafter, he pushed off explosively against the ground with both feet, and his entire body shot directly upward like a lightning spear, knocking the Qing Ape being's fist aside with tremendous force.
In the blink of an eye, he had soared high up into the heavens, and he spread his arms much like a giant bird spreading its wings, following which a waterfall of silver lightning came cascading down from above.
The Qing Ape being had only just managed to steady himself after being barged into by Han Li when he looked up to see a giant Lightning Bird swooping down from above before crashing down upon him with mountainous force.
The Qing Ape being was knocked to the ground, following which the waterfall of silver lightning came crashing down upon him, charring his entire body black.
He laid on the ground while spasming uncontrollably, trying to struggle to his feet, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Han Li merely reverted back to his human form, then made his way back to the carriage, where he observed the spasming Qing Ape being in an expressionless manner.
The Qing Ape being appeared to have sustained very severe injuries, but in reality, they were only inconsequential external injuries, that was a testament to just how formidable the physical constitutions of these Qing Ape beings were.
Han Li had no intention of taking his life, so he was content for the battle to end here.
Some time later, the numbness in the Qing Ape being's body finally abated, and he sat up to stare at Han Li with incredulity in his eyes.
"Wasn't he really arrogant just a moment ago? Why is he suddenly dumbstruck ape now?"
"That Lightning Bird senior must be some unknown mighty figure who spends all his time in seclusion. He must be serving as an elder in some powerful tribe."
All of the bystanders faltered slightly upon seeing this, following which everyone began jeering at the Qing Ape being while praising Han Li.
Sang Tu and Yun Bao were also looking at Han Li with excitement and admiration glowing in their eyes, and all hints of dissatisfaction that they had previously harbored toward him had completely evaporated.
It was clear that in their eyes, defeating an early-High Zenith Stage Qing Ape being so easily was nothing short of an unfathomable feat.
Han Li could see that the Qing Ape being had no intention of continuing the battle, so he turned and made his way back toward his carriage.
However, right at this moment, the bystanders' jeering voices abruptly cut off, and Han Li's brows furrowed slightly as he turned around to discover another Qing Ape being approaching the scene.
This one was even more physically imposing than the previous one, and his aura was comparable with that of a peak-High Zenith cultivator.
"You're a disgrace to our tribe, Qing Chu!" the Qing Ape being reprimanded in a cold voice.
"Brother, I..."
"Piss off!"
Qing Chu was sent flying by a vicious slap from the Qing Ape being before he even had a chance to say anything.
"Is that the new blood heir of the Qing Ape Tribe?" someone exclaimed.
"That must be him! He's Qing Dian, the one with the purest Zhuyan bloodline to have emerged from the Qing Ape Tribe over the past one million years! I've heard that he's already been confirmed to be the next chief of the Qing Ape Tribe!" someone else said.
"Looks like we're in for a good show now!"
"Shhh! Don't be so loud! I've heard that he has a very fiery temper, so keep it down if you don't want to be killed!"
Han Li's brows furrowed slightly upon hearing all of these bystander remarks.
"My brother may be a useless piece of trash, but I can't just let you get away with beating him up. How do you want to do this? A fight to the death or until one of us yields?" Qing Dian asked.
A hint of exasperation welled up in Han Li's heart upon hearing this. After beating up the little brother, the older brother had come for vengeance. Was there going to be anyone else to come?
He had important matters to attend to, and he didn't have time for this nonsense.
Qing Dian waited for Han Li's response for a moment, but when it didn't come, he continued, "Forget it, let's keep it simple. How do you want to die?"
Han Li's eyes narrowed slightly upon hearing this, and tiny arcs of lightning began to dance over his hands as he clasped them behind his back.
At this point, all of the bystanders had already fallen completely silent, and everyone was waiting with bated breath to see how long it would take for Qing Dian to kill Han Li.
Sang Tu and Yun Bao were sweating profusely, and it seemed that they were contemplating whether they should flee the scene before it was too late.
In their eyes, there was no way that Han Li would be a match for the next chief of the Qing Ape Tribe, and if Han Li were to fall, then their two tribes would surely follow.
Right as the tension in the air was reaching a peak, an exuberant voice suddenly rang out to break the tension.
"Is that you, Brother Rock?"
Han Li faltered slightly at the sound of this familiar voice, following which he turned to the city gate to discover a beautiful young woman in a white dress skipping her way toward him.
Her flawlessly gorgeous features carried a natural air of seduction, and all of the bystanders couldn't help but stare.
Even Qing Dian was slightly enraptured as his gaze fell upon the young woman, but at this moment, the young woman had eyes only for Han Li, and it seemed like no else existed to her.
"Le'er!" Han Li called out with a warm smile, and in the next instant, the young woman had already rushed headfirst into his arms.
All of the surrounding bystanders were furious to see this, and they were instantly so envious of Han Li that any admiration they had developed toward him for defeating Qing Chu had completely evaporated.
The young woman was none other than Liu Le'er, and her eyes were glowing with excitement as she asked, "What are you doing here, Brother Rock? You should've told me that you were coming here! I sensed your aura from inside the city, but I couldn't be sure if it was you. I came here just in case, and I'm really glad that I did!"
Han Li placed his hands on her shoulders, pushing her away slightly so that he could look her up and down, following which he smiled and gave an approving nod.
"You're all grown up now, no longer the little girl that used to ride on my shoulders."
Liu Le'er couldn't help but blush as she was reminded of the past, and all of the bystanders were even more enraptured to see this.
Even though she wasn't using any seductive techniques, just her mere presence alone was as intoxicating as fine wine.
Right at this moment, Qing Dian yelled in a disgruntled voice, "Where the hell did you come from? Get out of here!"
A hint of anger flashed through Han Li's eyes upon hearing this. Not only had he been provoked without cause by these Qing Ape beings, his reunion with Liu Le'er was also being interrupted, and his patience was beginning to wear thin.
Right as he was planning to get rid of this eyesore, Liu Le'er suddenly placed a delicate hand onto his arm to stop him, then took a step toward Qing Dian as she extended an elegant curtsey.
She then flipped a hand over to produce a round, palm-sized scale as she said, "You're a fellow daoist of the Qing Ape Tribe, right? I presume you recognize this."
She raised the scale in her hand as she spoke so that Qing Dian could get a clearer look at it. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
It was a white scale with layers of rippling patterns on its surface, and a hint of surprise appeared in Han Li's eyes at the sight of it.
The scale was identical to the one that he had been given by Lekima back when they had parted ways in the Eon Pagoda.
Many of the bystanders immediately extended respectful bows at the sight of the scale, and some had even fallen to their knees to kowtow in reverence.
The surprise in Han Li's eyes grew even more pronounced upon seeing this.
After extending a respectful bow, Qing Dian asked, "Why do you have a True Spirit King token? Could it be..."
"That's right, I'm a member of the Heavenly Fox Tribe," Liu Le'er replied with a bright smile.
"What is this scale, Le'er? It appears to be quite precious," Han Li asked through voice transmission.
"This Featherform Scale is a token that's unique to the True Spirit Kings, and there are only seven in existence, serving as representations of the True Spirit Kings' trust. Our Heavenly Fox Tribe has been serving the True Spirit King for a very long time, and we were rewarded with a Featherform Scale for our efforts, while I was fortunate enough to have been given the scale by the patriarch of our tribe," Liu Le'er explained, and Han Li was even more perplexed to hear this.
Why had Lekima given him something so important?
What do you think?
